VLE Ghanshyam empowers villagers in Chitwadi, Rajasthan

Sanskrit Graduate Ghanshyam Kandel’s family was living in poverty in year 2009. Working as an entrepreneur in remote Chitwadi village of Rajasthan, life was not easy for him. With his grit and determination, he crossed the obstacles and ensured successful operationalization of his CSC. After completing Graduation, he bought a computer at the time when the family was in abject poverty.

Chitwadi,  a rural village with poor roads, and the only transportation came just once a week few years back. Ghanshyam’s CSC created a ripple effect in rural communities. With the help of Ghanshyam, 70 villagers started CSC centres in Jaipur. By developing or growing existing CSCs, entrepreneurs have the opportunity not only to increase the wealth of their household, but also to be a catalyst for change throughout their community. As village level entrepreneurs, they became more successful; they hired additional workers and bought more supplies, increasing the number of jobs and cash flow within the village.

In the year 2015, VLE Ghanshyam worked on NABARD project, in which about 4000 villagers got training on banking facilities. Ghanshyam trained 1,000 citizens under Investor Awareness Program-IAP, 4500 people on Digital Literacy. So far, he has also trained 500 women on legal literacy.

Ghanshyam also educated the disadvantaged people, educating them as the basis of life and spreading awareness among the society, which in turn motivated everyone in the society.  At present, he is delivering services on- Tele-law, PMGDISHA, PAN card, Passport, IRCTC, LIC premium, DigiPay.

Ghanshyam Kandel got the opportunity to become the first beneficiary of Bhamashah wallet. Bhamashah Yojana is a scheme introduced by the Government of Rajasthan to transfer financial and non-financial benefits of governmental schemes directly to women recipients in a transparent way. The VLE has worked on several other schemes of Rajasthan Government. Ghanshyam has helped in the withdrawal of pension for 200 poor and destitute at the door steps.

The VLE says: “While running CSC operations, the thing I enjoy the most is meeting with different group of people who visit CSC for their service requirement. It is heart-warming to see their satisfaction after getting the services from CSC at reasonable cost and minimal time at their doorstep.”

The VLE adds: “CSC initiative provided us a platform to cater to the needs of the society and also help us in generating income for the family. I am sure that rural citizens and all VLEs will be benefitted. CSC has also helped me in gaining respect and recognition in the society.”
