Time and again, it has been observed that people migrate from villages or small towns to cities to fulfill their dreams, with nothing more than their minimal skills and grit. These places provide varied livelihood opportunities through which they are able to convert their dream into reality, and ultimately lead a better life.
But do not think for a minute that these dreams are as small as their respective villages/towns are said to be. Realizing that they need better resources and a sustainable environment to make sure that they can share their dreams with the world, these entrepreneurs believe in one simple theory- everything is possible; if you have the will to accomplish it!
A new band of Village Level Entrepreneurs are defying the stereotype while cashing in on the rapidly growing Indian economy aligned with Digital India program.
Take VLE Om Prakash Jha, after completing Graduation, started coaching centre. But he was determined to change the face of people in Oriya, (Muffasil, Hazaribagh) Jharkhand. He joined CSC in 2017. So far, the VLE has imparted Digital Literacy to 1200 people, especially among marginalized communities. Due to his training, the people in Oriya village are now aware of the various legal rights. They have opened bank accounts and can now take all the investment decisions wisely. All the households now also have their ration cards made.
30 years old Om Prakash says, “Running the CSC center made me very strong- morally, socially and financially.” His confidence improved a lot as he felt that he was part of a big change that CSC initiative is in the remote areas of Jharkhand state. He has done tremendous work under capacity Building and livelihood for marginalized communities in Muffasil, Hazaribagh.
Om Prakash started his center with very small setup, however after recognizing the opportunity to grow socially and financially with CSC platform, he focused on providing maximum number of services through her CSC center. Today, he is running his CSC in two storey building, with 10 computers, 4 printers and separate computer labs for theory and practical classes. The VLE is providing services on like PMGDISHA, PAN card, BCC , Ayushman Bharat (500), PM –SYM, life certificate, NIOS, Tele law.
24 years old, ST candidate under PMGDISHA, is one of the beneficiaries from Om Prakash’s CSC. He decided to undergo digital literacy training after reading about in a local newspaper. He is a resident of village Oriya, in Hazaribagh district. He completed the course of Digital literacy with great enthusiasm and learnt about digital transactions at the CSC. A few weeks after completing the course, he joined as receptionist in a multinational company. He says, “All this has become possible because of digital literacy training.”
Due to efforts of VLE Om Prakash, getting certified through life certificate has made it easier to get pension in the village Oriya for old age people. Senior citizens who are at 3-4 kilometers away from the CSC center can’t come, those people call VLE. He visits their home and give them money for their pension.
The VLE Om Prakash has employed 4 persons at his centre. VLE says, “Now the situation is that I am earning more than I expected to earn and have a big workplace having more than 7 service delivery counters in it.”
